About

We are a government and public affairs consulting firm specializing in grassroots strategies and database management techniques.

Matthew D. Ubben founded the firm in 2001 following his first three years of employment in Florida state government.  Later that year, Ubben returned to state government to serve as the Director of Legislative & Cabinet Affairs at the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs.  He also served as the agency's chief spokesman and was the Executive Director of the Florida Commission on Veterans' Affairs.

A year prior to reopening Confianza Consulting, Inc. in 2005, Ubben served as chief development officer and director of public policy at Volunteers of America - Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outreach services to Florida's homeless veterans and affordable housing to Florida's most vulnerable citizens.

During his first tour in the Bush/Brogan Administration, Ubben served as Public Affairs Director at the Florida Transportation Commission and as Director of External Affairs at the Department of Management Services' Division of State Group Insurance.  Previously, Ubben was Deputy Communications Director at the Florida Department of Education under then-Commissioner Frank T. Brogan.

Prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, Ubben spent more than a decade in various public affairs positions in Washington, DC.  He managed political action committees at United Technologies Corporation and MCI Communications Corporation, directed a major-donor program at the Republican National Committee and lobbied for the Helicopter Association International.

Ubben received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
